Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we process on our servers, why, on what legal basis, and what rights you have. If you have questions, contact us at the address above.

1. Our core principle: progress and settings stay on your phone

Flow Balance does not include journal, mood tracking, or saved reflection features in the app. Some exercises may suggest notes on paper — those stay outside the app and we do not collect them.

On your device we keep program progress (practices completed, audio position) and app settings. This data does not include text you write about how you feel, and we do not send it to our servers as such. Certain progress metadata (e.g. which practices you finished) may be linked to your account to run the service — see section 2.

If you change devices or uninstall the app, locally stored progress may be lost — because we do not keep a full copy on our servers.

2. What we process on our servers

We process a limited set of data needed for your account, the app, and service improvement:

We do not sell your data and do not use this information for targeted advertising to third parties.

3. Content preferences from setup

During initial setup you may select a few areas of interest (for example sleep, stress, emotional balance) so we can recommend suitable programs. These are content preferences you tell us — not a medical diagnosis, and not a substitute for professional assessment.

We store your selections in your account for in-app recommendations and, where relevant, to personalize certain service-related emails (e.g. suggested programs).

4. Legal bases for processing

• Contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)): account, payment, content preferences needed for the service you request, and minimal technical data to run your account.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): app security, abuse prevention, and aggregated usage analysis to improve the product, where your rights are not disproportionately affected. You may object to processing based on legitimate interest by contacting us.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): marketing communications where we send them and where the law requires consent. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): retention of financial and tax records under Romanian law.

5. We are not a medical service

Flow Balance is a wellbeing and self-care tool. The app does not include stored journals or reflections, and we do not collect text about how you feel on our servers. It does not replace consultation, diagnosis, or treatment by a qualified professional. In an emergency, call 112 in Romania or your local emergency number.

6. Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers that help us operate the app:

• Clerk — authentication and account management
• Stripe — payment processing for premium options (via Clerk)
• Vercel — application and website hosting
• Neon — account data and analytics events storage (with consent)
• Resend — transactional email (account, billing, legal notices)
• Public authorities — only when required by law

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area (for example the United States). Where this applies, we use GDPR safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and data processing agreements with providers. You may request more information at contact@flowbalance.app.

7. Emails

We send emails needed for your account, trial, subscription, and service operation (for example confirmations and subscription notices). Certain optional email categories (e.g. reminders, progress reports) can be managed in Settings in the app. We do not send unsolicited advertising; marketing communications, if introduced, will respect your consent.

8. How long we keep data

We keep account data while your account is active. After deletion, we remove it except where law requires retention (e.g. financial records — typically 10 years under Romanian tax law). Data stored locally on your device (progress, settings) is controlled by you.

9. Your rights (GDPR)

• Access — to know what data we hold about you
• Rectification — to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — to delete your account and associated data (see also the in-app feature)
• Portability — to receive a copy of account data in a structured format
• Withdraw consent — at any time for processing based on consent
• Object — to processing based on legitimate interest, as provided by law
• Complaint to a supervisory authority — in Romania: ANSPDCP, www.dataprotection.ro

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect account data. No system is perfectly secure, but we minimize risk through our architecture: we do not collect text you write about how you feel on our servers, and detailed progress stays on your device.

11. Children and minors

Eligibility and age rules are in our Terms and Conditions. In short: users under 16 may use the app only with a parent or guardian who creates the account; from age 16 you may use the service independently under Romanian law. Locally stored progress remains on the device for all users.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email.
